We are looking for a skilled, experienced and dedicated Finance Manager to join Energicity Sierra Leone Limited DBA Power Leone to lead and oversee all financial operations for the company, ensuring financial health, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning. This position will help support the growth of our market development, operations, engineering, construction, and support teams to bring our electrification services to more than 100,000 customers in several African countries over the next 5 years. Our goal is to deliver high-quality solar mini-grids that ensure our customers have light in their homes and electricity services that help their communities thrive through:

JOB TITLE: Finance Manager

LOCATION: Freetown, Sierra Leone

JOB SUMMARY:

The Finance Manager will lead and oversee all financial operations for Energicity Sierra Leone Limited DBA Power Leone, ensuring financial health, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong background in financial management, ideally within the energy or infrastructure sector. The ideal candidate will be critical in optimising financial processes, driving efficiency, and supporting the company’s growth objectives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Finance Controller, the Finance Manager is expected to perform the following:

  1. Financial Planning & Reporting
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Prepare, review, and present financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide data-driven insights for decision-making.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Forecast revenue, expenses, and financial trends to support strategic planning.
  • Implement cost-control measures to enhance financial efficiency.

3. Compliance & Tax Management

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, financial regulations, and corporate policies.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of tax filings and statutory financial reports.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities to ensure regulatory compliance and address financial matters.

4. Cash Flow & Risk Management

  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to ensure financial stability.
  • Assess financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable, ensuring smooth financial operations.

5. Internal Controls & Financial Systems

  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Implement financial policies and procedures to enhance transparency and efficiency.
  • Ensure accurate financial records and documentation for audits and strategic decision-making.

6. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor the finance team to enhance performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and management, to support business objectives.
  • Serve as a key financial advisor to the management team.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor or designated authority

QUALIFICATIONS:  EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) is an advantage.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the energy, infrastructure, or related industries.

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and local financial regulations in Sierra Leone.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including project partners.
  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and environmental sustainability in all aspects of work.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently to rural communities and work in challenging environments with limited resources.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in local languages spoken in Sierra Leone is a plus.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and adapt to local culture and situations.
  • Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
