We are looking for a highly capable, systems-oriented Product & Systems Manager to help Energicity improve operational efficiency, product reliability, customer experience, and data visibility across our growing platform.
THE COMPANY’S CORE VALUES ARE:
- Excellence and Integrity
- Learning and Innovation
- Teamwork
- Customer-Centricity
JOB TITLE: Product and Systems Manager, Energicity Corp
LOCATION: Ideally based in Benin, Sierra Leone, or Liberia; remote candidates across West Africa will be considered.
ROLE OVERVIEW
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical operational problems through thoughtful product management, systems design, automation, and cross-functional collaboration.
The Product & Systems Manager will work across hardware, software, operations, customer experience, and reporting systems to help Energicity prioritize effectively, improve operational performance, and build scalable internal tools and customer-facing applications.
This is not a role focused on shipping large numbers of features or managing large engineering budgets. Instead, success in this role requires strong judgment, prioritization, operational empathy, and the ability to continuously improve systems in a resource-constrained environment.
The role requires comfort operating under ambiguity and the ability to translate operational problems into practical, scalable solutions.
The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, comfortable forming independent recommendations, and able to move initiatives forward without continuous oversight or detailed instruction.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and continuously refine a practical roadmap across operational tooling, reporting systems, inventory systems, and customer-facing applications.
- Prioritize ruthlessly across competing operational, commercial, and technical needs, balancing immediate business impact with longer-term platform development.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience through automation, lightweight software tools, selective AI-enabled solutions, and improved data visibility.
- Translate operational and reporting requirements into practical workflows and tools that improve decision-making and execution across the company.
- Design and improve internal systems that increase operational visibility, improve reporting efficiency, strengthen inventory traceability, and support cross-team coordination.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, finance, customer service, and commercial teams to identify pain points, define requirements, and implement practical solutions.
- Own ongoing product and systems performance metrics, ensuring operational issues are surfaced, prioritized, and addressed through structured iteration with engineering and operations teams.
- Collaborate with engineers on product specifications, field readiness, testing plans, and deployment sequencing for hardware and software systems.
- Support the management and prioritization of external software development resources where applicable.
- Use project management and product tooling (Jira, Asana, or equivalent) to maintain visibility into priorities, blockers, and progress across initiatives.
- Communicate clearly and confidently across all levels of the organization, including senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / TECHNICAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Required:
- 4+ years of experience in product management, systems management, operations technology, or related technical/project management roles.
- Experience working across both hardware and software systems.
- Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills.
- Experience operating effectively in resource-constrained or rapidly evolving environments where priorities must be continuously reassessed.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) at a professional level.
- Strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency with modern project and product management tools (Jira, Asana, or similar).
Preferred:
- Background in engineering, computer science, information systems, operations, or related technical disciplines.
- Experience working with operational software systems, inventory systems, reporting systems, telemetry systems, or field operations platforms.
- Experience implementing automation or AI-enabled operational tools.
- Experience working in energy access, renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, manufacturing, or similarly operational industries.
- French language proficiency (professional level).
- Experience coordinating external developers or technical vendors.
- Familiarity with solar, battery systems, metering systems, or utility operations.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE
- Operational and reporting data become more visible, reliable, and actionable.
- Operational software and systems improve steadily over time through structured prioritization and iteration.
- Internal teams spend less time manually compiling reports, tracking inventory, or resolving preventable operational issues.
- Customer-facing and operational tools become increasingly reliable and useful.
- Product and operational decisions are made with greater clarity, structure, and data visibility.
