We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Electrical Project Engineer to join Energicity DBA Powe Leone Sierra Leone Limited. This position will help support the growth of our market development, operations, engineering, construction, and support teams to bring our electrification services to more than 100,000 customers in several African countries over the next 5 years. JOB TITLE: Electrical Project Engineer

LOCATION: Freetown, Sierra Leone

JOB SUMMARY:

The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for designing and delivering solar PV mini-grid and low/medium-voltage distribution systems, preparing engineering drawings, specifications, studies, and Bills of Materials to support successful project execution. The role provides technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including construction, commissioning, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of engineering standards to enhance cost efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

Major Responsibilities

Engineering Design & Technical Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain technical studies, engineering designs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring accuracy and compliance with project and company standards.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of modular engineering standards and design practices to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency across projects.
Project Delivery
  • Deliver complete and accurate engineering packages that support project execution and meet construction schedules.
  • Participate in Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) reviews and engineering risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
  • Provide engineering support to construction teams by resolving technical queries and incorporating lessons learned into future designs to drive continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance
  • Conduct engineering Quality Control Point (QCP) inspections during fabrication, construction, and commissioning to ensure compliance with approved engineering standards and project specifications.
  • Verify that all locally procured materials meet engineering specifications, quality requirements, and applicable technical standards before installation or use.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve engineering non-conformances promptly to minimize project risks and ensure quality, safety, and overall project performance.
Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, design templates, and technical tools to enhance quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend alternative engineering solutions that improve cost-effectiveness, constructability, reliability, and scalability while meeting project and organizational requirements.

Engineering Design

  • Design solar PV minigrids and low- and medium-voltage distribution systems.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts, cable sizing, and protection

QUALIFICATIONS:  EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Qualification required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or any related field of study.

  • Must be a certified engineer in Sierra Leone
  • Basic computer literacy, including use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, preferably within the renewable energy sector or a related industry.

  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other electrical design or engineering software tools.
  • Practical experience in power systems, electrical distribution, and/or renewable energy projects is highly desirable

  • Produce designs requiring minimal rework.
  • Support construction through timely engineering decisions.
  • Improve engineering quality and standardization across projects.
  • Demonstrate growth toward Engineering Lead responsibilities.
